Mikwe
The Mikwe is a ritual bath for immersions. Due to the complete immersion the transition from the „ritual unclean“ to the „ritual clean“ is carried out. In the Tora there are numerous directives about the use of a Mikwe, for example 3. Moses 15, 9-21, 4. Moses 19,16-19 and 5. Moses 23,12. In the same way there are religious regulations concerning the amount of water and its quality. It has to be river-,rain -, or ground water. It is forbidden to draw this water. The Mikwe is one of the most important installations of each jewish community. In most cases it is located right next to the synagogue, for example in Emmendingen.
